There are two types of hearing loss. The first type is temporary, which occurs for a short duration of time based upon an overload of the nerves that control hearing. The second type is permanent, which is based on damage to the components to the ear, the most common of which are a punctured ear drum or nerve damage. The most common causes of hearing loss include aging factors and sensory overloads. For instance, firing off a gun without ear protection may lead to permanent hearing loss eventually.

These are the signs of hearing loss. Your family is getting frustrated by often needing to repeat sentences and words you have not heard clearly.
